Go Back in Time with Hacklewood Hill Country Guest House!
06 July 2019
Seeing as our followers are based all over the world and more particular South Africa, we decided to expand the blog to cities across the country, starting with Port Elizabeth.
Port Elizabeth, known as "The Friendly City" has amazing places to stay where you can experience true South African hospitality and if you're look for a place filled with history, look no further than Hacklewood Hill Country Guest House.
Hacklewood Hill was built in 1898 and it's nestled in a lush English garden setting in the leafy suburb of Walmer. Hacklewood Hill is one of the few remaining Victorian Manor Houses in the city, and as such retains much of the elegance and grace it would have boasted when its first inhabitants – a young doctor and his family – once lived here.
This guest house shows off from the minute you enter the gates with gorgeous greenery, a beautiful fountain and a garden to lust over.

The interior perfectly reflects an Victorian home with furniture dating back centuries and chandeliers that takes you back in time. I really loved the warm, at home feeling that Hacklewood Hill exudes and the staff are so welcoming you can't help but feel right at home.

Hacklewood Hill has eight luxury en suite rooms each perfectly capturing the essence of the Victorian Age. Every room has its own unique character and my favourite part of all the rooms were the bathrooms - the vintage baths are gorgeous and perfect for relaxing and unwinding.

Hacklewood Hill offers 5-star luxury fine dining dinners and we were very lucky to experience their winter menu and try some of their signature dishes (all paired with great South African wines).
