Dining in Style at Purple Rayn Boutique Guest House
13 February 2019
Cape Town is filled with hidden gems that I've yet to discover and Purple Rayn Boutique Guest House took my breath away as we drove up to see this stylish mansion.
The location has some of the best views Constantia has to offer and I think it's one of the biggest Guest Houses in the region with something interesting around every corner!

We were lucky enough to be invited for a stylish dinner at one of Purple Rayn's Restaurants (yes, there's more than one!) and as far as the food, we were not disappointed. The chef prepared an incredible feast and it was definitely a food experience more than just a dinner.
For our dinner we gathered in the Phantom Taste Room. This space has elements of black, white, oriental, marble and gold. Each couple had their own table (which was unexpected for a foodie event in the industry which normally groups us together), but when it's with the wife - who's complaining!

The menu of the evening was designed to be shared and we really liked the fact that some dishes were DIY - something we haven't experienced before. So let me show you the feast you all came here to see:
STARTERS:

BREAD AND MAYO: One of the dishes we had to assemble ourselves - It was some of the best bread and mayo I've ever had.

Diwali Oysters

Ostrich Tataki, ginger, coriander, coffee, carrot
MAINS:

Miso Dashi, ramen noodle, shitake, wakame, charred corn, spring onion, egg

Our Favourite Dish of the Night: Yakitori quail, ginger, cucumber, pickled daikon, salmon roe - this dish also had a DIY element with the topping that you had to mix yourself to go with the quail.

Another firm favourite of the night: Sweet and Sour Chickpea dhal, parantha
DESSERT:

Trio: White Chocolate, miso, sesame, orange ; Coconut, passion fruit, falernum, mango, raspberry ; Ginger, honeycomb, cheesecake, ginger bush, cinnamon
After this incredible feast we headed upstairs to the rooftop (where you will experience the amazing view I spoke about earlier) and here we were treated to their version of a night cap: A delicious wine and chocolate pairing with Lourensford Wines - the perfect ending to the perfect evening.

Purple Rayn Boutique Guest House is unlike any guest house I've seen - it's unique, eclectic and the perfect place to visit if you're looking for a different travelling experience. The food was delicious and we absolutely loved our Purple Rayn experience!
