Seelan Restaurant is one of the hottest spots at the V&A Waterfront at the moment with their European and the French Riviera look and feel. Seelan Restaurant is situated on the most incredible location with a spectacular view of the mountain, the famous big wheel and of course the harbour which makes it feel like you are on a luxury holiday and not part of a shopping mall. LUXO was invited to experience gourmet food and style at its best by wining and dining at this top restaurant.
What better way to start a dinner than with a glass of red wine and freshly baked bread - it just sets the tone for the entire dinner in my opinion.
For me a restaurant review is all about trying out signature dishes the restaurant is known for and getting to experience what makes their restaurant different from all the others. To start off our evening we got to enjoy the famous signature Chopped Seelan Salad with tomatoes, vegetables, eggs and parmesan - it is fresh with lots of flavour and perfect for a starter.
One of Ritzas's favourite starters is carpaccio and Seelan's Carpaccio De Boeuf which is marinated sirloin with a mustard vinaigrette and parmesan shavings.
As if that was not enough delicious food to start off with, we had one more to go and definitely a very highly recommended one indeed. The Seafood Bouillabaisse with prawns, calamari, mussels and linefish all were perfectly flavoured with saffron and beautifully presented.
Main meals are the meals that makes a restaurant famous, and speaking of famous, we enjoyed Seelan's very popular Rotisserie Duck with Chinese BBQ sauce that is slowly cooked for 5 hours and melts in your mouth. It is my personal favourite on their menu and something I will definitely go back for.
From duck to fish, Seelan's Kingklip with rocket, cherry tomatoes and parmesan is a fresh and healthy dish for those of you who are aware of their health and it is the perfect Summer dish.
Our last main dish was a real treat with the chef preparing it especially for us off the menu. You cannot go wrong with perfectly cooked sirloin, wild mushrooms, artichokes and truffles with a touch of rocket.
The most exciting part of dinner has to be the dessert and we got the royal platter with a bit of everything from tiramisu, sticky toffee pudding, berry cheese cake, chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream - a sweet tooth's dream!
Thank you to owner, Seelan Sundoo and manager Justin for having us at your amazing restaurant and we will definitely be back with friends and family to experience gourmet cuisine at its best!
