Friday night we were invited to be spoilt with a culinary experience at one of Cape Town's top restaurant, Societi Bistro in Orange Street. From the second we arrived, we were treated like royalty and the hostess seated us at a romantic spot by the fireplace - perfect for a cold night!
I love the rustic feel to the restaurant with the old wooden floors, the high ceilings and the wine cellar displayed with top SA wines. It has a very cosy feeling and think it is very special.
They introduced us to their latest Autumn Menu and everything sounded amazing! We got to choose anything off the menu as they are very confident that all their dishes are absolutely delicious and they have every right to be!
I had the butternut salad with sweet potato, rocket, avo and balsamic reduction and Ritza had one of their signature dishes in a starter portion, the mushroom risotto with cream spinach and Grana Padano - this is highly recommended and one of my personal favourites!
It was a very chilly night and for mains I wanted something rich and delicious but with a "home-like" feel and that is why I had the free range pork neck with apple and sage stuffing, mustard cream, pearl onions, green beans and buttered mash.
Ritza had the venison (kudu) bourguignon with buttered mash, bacon lardons, pearl onions, mushrooms and red vine.
Both these mains were perfectly combined in terms of flavour and each bite was better than the previous one. The meat were perfectly cooked and it was absolutely fantastic.
They completely surprised us with their desserts and spoilt us with an entire table full of delicious desserts! From creme brulee, lemon sorbet, coffee ice cream, vanilla ice cream and the most amazing baked cheesecake!
These empty places says it all...
Society Bistro is one of the Top 10 places to eat in Cape Town and after this fabulous meal I know why. The food is fantastic and the service was amazing and it was truely a delicious gourmet experience.
Thank you to Society Bistro for having us, and if you want to try out their delicious Autumn Menu, click here to check it out or for booking details.
