On Wednesday evening, Ritza and I was in for a treat with Mediterranean Delicacies, Brandhouse Reserve and HQ Restaurant. A trendy way to unwind after a day at work, is to get together at a vibey hotspot and enjoy some cocktails and tapas. It is also a very trendy way of getting together and socialising.
We were invited to try the latest Aperitivo Board and cocktail pairing menu at HQ restaurant and the evening was a fushion of flavours! Guests were entertained with a live cocktail demonstration and also a live performer to create a cosy atmosphere .
Who wouldn't enjoy an evening kicking off with a cocktail called Belissima paired with a mezze board of olives, fried calamari, dips and fresh breads.
The next cocktail on the menu was definitely one of my favourites. It is called The Spice Pot with orange marmalade, smoky paprika and zesty lime - but besides tasting deliciously different it was also presented beautifully and reminded you of your granny's home made marmalade jam! To go with this spicy cocktail we had Mediterranean Feta Spanakopita which is phyllo pastry, feta and basil pesto mayonaise.
The next cocktail that was presented to us is definitely for that person who had a super tough day at work and needs to unwind with no distractions! It is called "High Tea" and has Tanqueray London Dry, cucumber, citrus, mint and a splash of tonic. This compliments the smoked salmon and cucumber parcels paired with it - it is light and the freshness of the cocktail really compliments this snack!
For those of you who like strong flavours with a kick - the "Out of the Clear Blue Skye" cocktail is for you! With unexpected flavours of gorgonzola and chorizo lifted with fresh grape notes, this is sure to make your day a bit better. Paired with Grilled Wagyu Sirlion with blue cheese, jalapeno dip and carmamelised onions to spark an overload of flavour!
No evening is complete without a touch of something sweet and a dark chocolate and anise cream salted caramel tart, paired with a "Dill-lectable" cocktail is something like never before. To add some drama to your dessert, a balloon filled with the aroma of Absinthe fills the room and sends you on your way literally on a high!
This new Aperitivo Board and cocktail pairing with run for the next three months at HQ Restaurant and will be available weekdays from 5pm - 7pm. Costs are R250 per person and includes the tapas boards and four cocktails.
