Magical food at Don Pedros Restaurant

Magical food at Don Pedros Restaurant

15 August 2013

Tuesday night we were invited to the well known Woodstock corner of magic better known as Don Pedros. This restaurant is also family of the Madame Zingara group and it is romantic, cosy and the perfect restaurant for a date night.

To me it felt like I was on set of a Mexican movie with the decor, the rough feel of the restaurant and all the different antique memorabilia. Me and Ritza were welcomed by the hostess who seated us in a cosy little spot and what better way to start off a cold winter's night than with a good glass of red wine!

When it came to deciding what to eat, the variety is incredible with delicate gourmet meals to choose from. What I loved about the menu is that there are just enough options to choose from - not too many to confuse you but enough to be able to make a good choice! They also have amazing off the menu specials that tastes incredible!

Starters:

I went for the chilli poppers as it is one of my personal favourite treats! It is deliciously deep fried with guacamole and sour cream enhancing all the flavours of the chillies!

Ritza had Phyllo Parcels filled with smoked chicken, spinach and mozzarella served on a white wine and mushroom sauce. Definitely highly recommended!

Mains:

For mains I decided on a Chicken, mushroom and green pea risotto which has a free range chicken breast sauteed with gable mushrooms and garden green peas, tossed with arborio risotto, white wine and fresh herbs.

Ritza had the French Fooked Fillet that was cooked to absolute perfection! The ultimate roast fillet of beef, topped with a cranberry, port and rosemary jus, scented with field and cultivated mushrooms. One of their most popular dishes and definitely a melt in your mouth fillet - delicious!

With the main meal we received delicious side veggies which are also at Bombay Bicycle Club and a very popular treat with potatoes, cream spinach and carrots.

Dessert:

Of course my favourite part of any meal is dessert and wow did we have great choices to choose from!

I had their famous apple cinnamon crumble which is classic apple crumble infused with cinnamon and raisins, served with custard and whipped cream. The perfect sweet treat and absolutely perfect for winter!

Ritza had their special of the week which was gluwein poached pears tart with white chocolate ganache and delicious berries - absolute dessert perfection!

Don Pedro's is a hidden gem that needs to be recognized as one of the most delicious restaurants with an amazing atmosphere. It was an absolute treat to review their restaurant and thank you for having us and making us feel at home!
