Food Review: Padlangs Country Restaurant and Shop
05 January 2017
This holiday I explored the Eastern Cape and surprisingly I found some great hidden gems including Padlangs Country Restaurant in Patensie. Padlangs is a charming stop on the road from Port Elizabeth to the Baviaanskloof. It's the perfect spot for family lunch and will take you back to your childhood days with traditional "Boerekos"!

Padlangs has something interesting around every corner - from funny quotes, to massive Black Cat Peanut Butter jars used as stools. The attention to detail and creative touch is really unique and something I haven't seen at many restaurants before.

Padlangs prepares hearty, delicious, home-cooked meals and even though you have to wait a bit longer for your food, it's totally worth it. For lunch we tried a variety of dishes including:
Chicken with blue cheese, green fig and bacon:

The Grilled platter for 1 with the best deep fried chicken I've had in a while! It's also one of the most popular dishes in the restaurant:

Traditional Curry and Rice (the best I've had in a long time!):

On Saturdays you can enjoy traditional Tripe and on Sundays they do a beautiful Sunday lunch (like mom used to make it) so make sure to book your spot or pop in for a visit if you are ever in Patensie!
