I truly believe that travelling changes people and even though I love an international trip to a new exciting country, sometimes the most beautiful places are right here in South Africa! For Easter this year we finally got to tick off a bucket list item by visiting Coffee Bay to see the well-known and magical Hole in the Wall.
The drive to Coffee Bay is a long one (prepare yourself) and a 4 x 4 definitely helps, but it's all worth it a thousand times over! The Transkei is picture perfect with bright green fields and mountains as far as the eye can see, colourful African huts on every hill and animals roaming free with no care in the world.
The Hole in the Wall is one of the most impressive landmarks along the entire South African coastine. The cliff consists of dark-blue shales, mudstones and sandstones, dating back some 260 million years! Photos actually don't do this place justice:
You can see the Hole in the Wall on a 4 x 4 tour (where you'll also be able to see the Baby Hole in the Wall) and/or by taking a 4 hour hike to see it up close and personal:
I definitely recommend Coffee Bay to anyone who wants to take a break from reality and appreciate nature untouched. It's the perfect place to relax, rewind and enjoy a piece of African heaven!
