Coco Safar Pâtisserie and Café
26 July 2018
Cape Town is filled with interesting coffee shops and if you live here you'll know that most people do business in coffee shops in the Mother City, but Coco Safar is no ordinary coffee shop - if you are looking for a luxury coffee and pâtisserie journey, Coco Safar will show you a whole new world of coffee, tea, chocolates and pastries.
We popped in at Artem in Sea Point for breakfast at Coco Safar and we had an entire tour of everything this space has to offer. Firstly, it's one of the very few places that serves a flat white cappuccino that needs no sugar (in my opinion anyway). The coffee really lives up to the hype and it's the perfect start to any day.
They have a nice selection of food on their breakfast menu and we tried the Belgian Waffle and Chicken as well as the Mushroom Tahini Toast and the Neo Avo Toast:

After breakfast we had a rooibos tea tasting which was my favourite of the day - I walked away with 2 boxes of rooibos tea (which conveniently comes in Nespresso pods so it's super easy to use) and tastes amazing!

From the tea tasting we moved to their coffee bar which is designed to feel like a cocktail bar but with coffees and teas only. Here they serve designer cocktails and drinks all made with their in-house coffee, tea, gelato and sorbets. You can have a tasting of most of these combinations while the bartender talks you through the process and it's completely free of charge. In my opinion this is something great to do if you have visitors or friends travelling to Cape Town. It's unique, different and delicious.

The word “Coco” is synonymous with luxury and “Safar” means journey in many languages. The space definitely lives up to the name and if you're looking for something different, give it a try - I'm sure you'll love it as much as we did!
