As you might know by now, LUXO is reviewing all the Madame Zingara group restaurants and our next stop was at the beautiful European inspired restaurant, Cafe Paradiso in Kloof Street.
We kicked the night off by being taken on a tour through the restaurant by the manager and I was quite surprised to see what they had to offer. The restaurant is described as the perfect family restaurant with a warm and loving atmosphere and a special love for kids! Let me explain: While you are having wine and trying to catch up with friends/family, your kids can be entertained in the kitchen by making gingerbread men, decorating cupcakes or even make their own pasta!
We were super excited to try the food and for our first course I had a mediterranean salad with roasted vegetables - one of their specials for the night and I especially loved the bread sticks as part of the salad! Ritza had ripped carpaccio of charred beef with thyme, olives and parmesan - perfect for our meat lovers!
For mains we chose to enjoy their most popular dishes and as it is an Italian restaurant, of course I had to have their famous fettuccini fanatsia with bacon, mushroom, tomato, chilli, cream and parmesan and Ritza had the very popular grilled sirloin with Cafe de Paris butter, girlled black mushrooms, rocket and parmesan. The meat was cooked to perfection and those black mushrooms were to die for!
After these delicious mains, it was impossible for us to each enjoy our own choice of dessert so we decided to share one of their signature desserts - chocolate brownies with home-made vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. Perfectly balanced and absolutely decadent, it was a great choice!
Thank you to Cafe Paradiso for having us, and if you want to experience a night at this magical restaurant, visit www.cafeparadiso.co.za for all their information!
