Authentic Italian Feast at Lupa Osteria V&A Waterfront
29 January 2019
Ritza is one of the biggest Italian food lovers I know and we are always looking for a restaurant to transport us to Italy with their amazing food (and I think we've found it...)
Lupa Osteria opened their doors at the Clock Tower in the Silo District at the V&A Waterfront less than a year ago and they offer a comfortable setting where you can either enjoy a casual family dinner with a pizza or a opt for a homemade pasta and a glass of wine with friends.
We had the opportunity to try some of their signature dishes and if you are a fan of true Italian food, then this article is just for you!
STARTERS:
We absolutely loved how they presented the starters on oversized Italian tomato tins - it leaves enough space on the table for everyone to enjoy the starters and makes a great photo!

ITALIAN NACHOS: Crispy three cheese ravioli with a fiery Arrabbiata dipping sauce

PARMA HAM: With seasonal melon

WHOLE BAKED CAMEMBERT: Wrapped in Parma Ham served with caramelised onions & toasted bruschetta - this was our FAVOURITE starter, perfect with a glass of wine!
MAINS:
A classic Italian pasta and one of my favourites on any Italian menu is gnocchi and the gnocchi at Lupa Osteria is just the best of both worlds. It comes with 2 sauces and tastes like heaven:

GNOCCHI FANTASIA : Gorgonzola cream & bolognaise ragu
Ritza chose one of their most popular dishes and also a pasta highly recommended by the staff. It's a seafood pasta and it comes wrapped in tin foil - it's like opening a delicious Italian food gift at the table and the smell of this is absolutely incredible (it has a bit of a kick to it as well which I loved!)

MARINARA :Three prawns, calamari, three mussels, tomato, chilli & fennel cream
DESSERT:
The best part of any meal is dessert and at an Italian restaurant, there simply is no other option than to have Tiramisu. The Tiramisu was perfectly balanced, light and creamy - exactly as it should be:

For Ritza's dessert we had something completely different. A Nutella crème brûlée with Italian Meringue. It's so light and actually tastes like chocolate and marshmallow-like clouds that melts in your mouth. If you're looking for a bit of a change, this dessert is worth a try.

CREMINO AL CIOCCOLOTO: Nutella crème brûlée, smashed Amaretti biscuits, salted caramel gelato & Italian meringue
Overall we rate Lupa Osteria one of new favourite Italian Restaurants in Cape Town. They use quality, fresh ingredients and all the food is hearty, delicious and rustic Italian. We absolutely loved our spread of Italian dishes and cannot wait to be back for their pizzas (we saw other diners having this on the day and it looked beyond amazing!)
Grazie Lupa Osteria for the amazing food and dining experience!
