Absolut VISI Designer of the Year Awards 2012 took place at Wembley Square, where they took a space and turned it into a modern tropical forest with crisp white leather lounges,trees and floral creations as well as interesting lightening and plants in glass vases to help create this beautifully different venue. Designers, media and selected friends and family were welcomed with Absolut cocktails, gourment canapes and "forest dancers" to entertain the guests before the ceremony started.
Editor of VISI, Jacquie Myburgh had the honour of presenting the prestiges awards, which were divided into 4 categories "because it simply is not possible to compare architecture and interior design with each other" in the words of the editor namely DESIGN,INTERIORS, ARCHITECTURE AND EMERGING DESIGNER.
Judges included Li Edelkoort and winners received R10 000 Paul Smith SA Vouchers.
And the winners are....
Design: Pierre Cronje with his Simply Pierre range.
Interiors: Karen Roos with Babylonstoren farm hotel.
Architecture: Nina Cohen, Fiona Garson, William Martinson for the WITS Arts Museum in Braamfontein.
Emerging Designer: Michaella Janse van Vuuren of Nomili with her three dimensional printing designs.
